Images Sunrise over Copinsay 12 December 2001 Copinsay
is a small uninhabited island east of Deerness on the Mainland of Orkney.
It has a lighthouse and is a bird reserve due to its spectacular eastern
cliffs which teem with seabirds during the breeding season. These shots
were taken from thew west end of Newark Bay. There was no sign of the
mermaid which is said to frequent this bay.
For the first few days we had very overcast weather, but starting on 9th December we had a big high pressure over us. Excellent sunsets from then. Also lovely sunrises as above. |
